The article on McKusick is great. The 1967 photograph of Medical Genetics Division staff is a memorable one (I am on Victor's left side because I was junior in standing to the person on his right). I retired from my position as director of Cytogenetics Laboratory at the Christiana Hospital in Delaware at the end of June of last year. I continue to work on Chromosomal Variation in Man Online in cooperation with John Wiley & Sons, Inc, NY (www.wiley.com/borgaonkar). I am presently at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL as a Visiting Scientist and working
on a long standing research project of mine on the Genetics of
Late Onset Alzheimer's Disease.

I enjoyed reading the biography of the father of medical genetics, Prof. Victor A. McKusick in the megastars of the Ambassadors. It is interesting that you are planning to write about Oman. What I can tell you about Oman, based on my own experience, is that its people have exceptional manners and you can feel that their culture is deeply rooted and their country is developing steadily with good planning for everything. The Omani citizens work at all levels in their country, from janitor to university chancellor. You enjoy tasting the past and feeling the future. It is a wonderful country.

We have visited The Ambassadors online magazine, and it looks very good. Since the time that we sent you the information about the pyramids, a few months ago, we have several updates, which we will be sending to your magazine. We have researched the subject of "sacred geometry," as it relates to the pyramids and other monuments in ancient Egypt.  As the name implies, the geometrical proportion of a structure has significant "sacred" meanings and powers.
I am in the process of writing a book about the subject of "sacred geometry."  The title of the book is "Egyptian Harmony: The Visual Music," ISBN 0-9652509-8-9, Pub Date July, 2000.  This book will provide the complete background for the extensive knowledge of ancient Egyptians, about harmonic proportion and how it was reflected in all their architectural achievements.  Every proportion has theological, metaphysical, musical inter-related meanings.

I always look at the Ambassadors online magazine. It is very interesting especially for me and all my family members living away from the Arab world. Today I was awarded the PhD degree from Nottingham university (Prof. John A. Raeburn). My project was about familial breast cancer; Investigations of BRCA1 or BRCA2 gene changes in women affected by early onset breast or ovarian cancer. I screened 209 individuals from 203 families and  found 30 pathogenic mutations and an extra of 8 alterations, which could be a polymorphism (non-pathogenic) . Also, I screened 38 women affected with medullary carcinoma of breast. I found only one mutation. Some investigators suggested that there is an association between this type of pathology and BRCA gene mutation, and we could use it as a marker for mutation detection in either gene.

I visited the archives of The Ambassadors Magazine at http://ambassadors.net/archives/issue2/, where I found an article about healing.  Interestingly, on January 9, 2000 in New York City, I will be launching two phenomenal workshops entitled, "FENG SHUI PERSONAL PARADISE (TM) and POWERHOUSE OF PROSPERITY THROUGH FENG SHUI (TM)". Feng Shui is the 3,000 year old Chinese tradition and the life force energy called Ch'i, useful in profoundly changing one's personal life into a paradise and one's business into a powerhouse
of prosperity. By using Feng Shui people have improved their relationships,
increased their finances, more than doubled their business profits, improved
their children's school performance, obtained desired jobs. There are even
cases where health concerns have dramatically improved! As quoted in Feng
Shui for Modern Living Magazine, May 1999 issue, "The underlying principle
of Feng Shui is to live in harmony with your environment so that the energy
surrounding you works for you rather than against you."
