The Ambassadors in
the 21st Century

Two of the great founders of the Ambassadors International Online Magazine will always be remembered for their major contribution. Professor Jim Farquhar PhD, was the founder of the international school of community pediatrics is Edinburgh, UK, and Prof. Louis K. Meleika PhD, was a distinguished clinical psychologist who devoted his career to establish developmental projects around the world in his work with the United Nations.
Both Prof. Farquhar and Prof. Meleika represent different cultures and specializations yet they have an identical interest. They were always dreaming of a future for the world, one that was characterized by peace, security, human rights and development. Throughout their lives, they dedicated their careers to the welfare of humankind in an attempt to curb the diseases that plagued the world at the end of the twentieth century. Their motivations and ideals have inspired the Ambassadors Online Magazine to pursue these philanthropic goals and continue their legacy.
Profs. Farquhar and Meleika spoke frequently of AIDS, drugs, mines, nuclear weapons and violence, pandemic that seem to engulf every corner of the globe. In their efforts to downsize these problems, they spent their lives educating people to actively participate in creating a better and healthier tomorrow.
With these ideals in mind, the Ambassadors has set out to assist those best suited to carry the torch well into the future, the youth, who are the true owners of the 21st century. Hence, the Ambassadors wishes to invite these younger generations to contribute to the magazine, providing a voice for their opinions, aspirations and dreams in years to come. This, we hope, will help mediate intergenerational dialogue and prevent conflicts. This collective participation built on diversity and healthy discussion will assist global organizations (such as the UN) as well as grass-roots agencies achieve their fundamental objectives of collective communalism.
Our dreams are very simple, to attain the
basic ideals described by our late founders: peace, development &
democracy.
