Dr. Kevorkian: Criminal or Saviour?

Dr. Jack Kevorkian was shown administering a lethal dose of drugs to a terminally ill man to an estimated 15.6 million viewers nationwide. An edited version of the tape appeared on CBS's "60 Minutes." Kevorkian has acknowledged taking part in at least 100 assisted suicides since 1990. In each case, an apparatus allowed the patient to administer the lethal dose of drugs or gas.

Michigan juries acquitted Kevorkian in three trials involving assisted-suicide related charges. But the aired September 17 incident was the first time Kevorkian himself administered the lethal dose, in an apparent challenge to prosecutors.

LAST ISSUE'S POLL RESULTS (as of December 15, 1998):

INVESTIGATION OF THE PRESIDENT

Click here to goto last issue's Cliniton Poll!

President Bill Clinton has joined the ranks of two previous American presidents who faced an impeachment investigation. In 1868, Andrew Johnson escaped an impeachment decision by a single Senate vote, and president Richard Nixon resigned before being removed from office in 1974. History repeats itself in the dawn of 1998 as American president Clinton will face his first impeachment hearing on November 9. The decision came following a 258-176 vote where 31 democrats joined the ranks of a unanimous republican front to trigger an impeachment inquiry of the Clinton. Following the meetings of the Juidiciary Committee, four articles on impeachment were passed. The senate will meet on Thursday (17 December) to debate these articles and decide whether the president should be impeached.
