Letters from the Chief Editor (Prof. Talaat I. Farag)

To HM Queen Elizabeth II and "Sir" Salman Rushdie

HER MAJESTY: HAPPY 81st BIRTHDAY. It is nice to know that your majesty has offered many British celebrities various honours and knighthoods. One of them is Mr. Salman Rushdie, author of 13 novels. In 1988 his novel, Satanic Verses, raised major criticism not only among Muslims but also among other believers who disagree with any criticism of prophets, religions and beliefs and consider these to be blasphemous. I would like to ask Mr. Rushdie to be brave enough and apologize for what many devout Muslims and non-Muslims believe is a crossing of the red lines of acceptability in his novel. The Ambassadors Magazine staff is convinced with multiculturalism and the respect of different religions.

Furthermore, Muslim scholars are invited to write their critical analysis of Satanic Verses to be published in the discussion forum and the opinion section of The Ambassadors Magazine.

To Professor Rafik Goubran

CONGRATULATIONS  for being appointed as the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Design at Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada. As a distinguished scientist and researcher, respected in the high-tech sector for your many contributions in the transfer of new discoveries and research results to industry, represented in your various patents. Your significant research projects on audio quality improvement in telephony, voice transmission over IP (VoIP) networks, the design of smart homes for seniors, heart and lung sound analysis, electronic noses and sensors has added much to the field of engineering and advancement of technology.

Prof. Gourban joined the Department of Systems and Computer Engineering, Carleton University, Ottawa, Canada, as Assistant Professor in 1987. He has since been promoted to Associate Professor and Professor and appointed for two terms as Chair of the Department in 1997-2000 and 2001-2006. In July 2006, he served as the Acting Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Design at the University before assuming the position fulltime on July 1, 2007.

To Professor Karl Sperling (Germany)

We are looking for the results of your molecular studies in search for a genetic contribution of non-disjunction among Bedouins following discussions with you at two scientific conferences in Sultanate of Oman and Kuwait. There are several indirect evidences supporting the hypothesis of the possibility of the presence of a major genetic factor in the recurrence of regular trisomy-21 among Bedouin children born to young parents in the Gulf region and Israel. Clustering of Down Syndrome, Trisomy-18 and Trisomy 13 was reported among Gulf neonates in the 1980s.

To Mr. Ahmed Toughan and Mr. Youssef El-Sherif (Egypt)

THANKS GOD: Our mutual friend Prof. Mokhtar Gomaa, former dean of Al-Azhar Medical College, informed me that your health is improving. My dear friends and brothers, all the staff of The Ambassadors Magazine pray for both of you.

Recently I taken up watercolours and would be pleased to send the Ambassadors Magazine a few samples. I am no Goya or Monet but it might be a different focus. Sorry to miss the deadline but I have been too occupied with other matters. I have been slow in getting back to you because I am uncertain how best to present the material. Perhaps I will try sending you a painting online to see if it is workable.

By accident I happened to discover this wonderful place called Amir Taz palace situated  in between Ibn Toulon Mosque and the citadel square and a very nice art exhibition by Egyptian artist, Sohair Othman. A mixture of techniques, materials and also a mixture of civilization through history starting with pharaonic heritage ending with Islamic and even modern. On 22 June, a concert by singer Rasha was held at the same location. For more info:  http://www.Egypt.org/advertisement_two.html .

As a continuation of our effort to establish networks between Egyptian scientists in the field of Genetics and Biotechnology. I would like to inform you that the Regional Office of the WHO would like to establish a network for scientists working in the same field (Genomics and Public Health). There was an initiative initiated in 2003 in Oman and continued the activity in Cairo Office. They would like to make the network through focal groups from different countries from the region. I was nominated by the Minister of Health together with Dr. Medhat Seif El Naser (Mubarak City previous President) to be the focal persons to organize this.   I will forward the communication from the coordinator of the program and I hope to help us in this matter. This may raise fund from the WHO to establish our website if we prepare good document.

I came across your article on the net in The Ambassadors regarding this book about the Ebers Papyrus.  I am wondering if you know of a source for the book other than the Dept. of Scientific Culture in Cairo.  I am unable to obtain an email address for them and so will have to use "snail mail" to contact them.  I found an email address for the Egyptian Academy of Scientific Research and Technology, but had to write my message in English as I have no Arabic.   I am a physician taking some time off from medical duties to work on a Master's Degree in history.  I am taking a course on Ancient Egypt this semester and am writing a small paper on medicine in those times.   Thank you for writing the article in the first place!

Hi, my name is Matt, and would like to make some comments about your study on Adolf Hitler. This paper seems to be like so many others in our society, mere propaganda to demonize Hitler. You seem to be one who blames World War 2 on Hitler, ignoring the Jewish declaration of war on Germany in '33, plus the U.S. war against Germany with the Lend-Lease Act (the United States was never neutral, despite propaganda to the contrary), as well as the declaration of war England and France made against Germany. As for Austria, actually the Austrians loved Hitler and wanted to be in Germany, as Germany was forced to act, and they did so without firing a shot. In Germany, Hitler was very popular, as he brought Germany greatness, instead of being stepped on like the way the Allies did after World War 1. Plus, there was no unemployment, as National Socialism was so much more effective than capitalism.
You also seem to be one that believes the Jews suffered so horribly under him. While it is true that some did suffer (a million died, a small percent to atrocities), it was the Germans who suffered the most in that war, as Germany was the victims of Allied terror, with an estimated 9-15 million dying between 1945-1950 alone, which we hear little about. World War 2 was created because the Allies, under the influence of powerful Jews, wanted the war. If you want to see what I am talking about, how sick these powerful Jews were, read Germany Must Perish, by Theodore Kaufman. As for the atomic bomb, you seem to think it is wonderful that it was made, tell that to the graves of all the Japanese who died as a result of it. An act of terror that no one has yet to get in trouble for. Also, for you to assume Hitler and Mussolini were both more evil than Joseph Stalin and his communist cronies is simply absurd and laughable. You might also want to do your homework, as they were leaders of the 20th century, not 21st.
You seem to be typical of our society, claiming Adolf Hitler spewed propaganda. The problem is, what he stated was actually true, and the powerful Jews are still the enemy, like they were in his day. It is actually your article, and ones like it, that are full of lies. I would suggest you read Hitler's War by David Irving, and for the reality on the "Holocaust", go to
www.ihr.org, you may learn a thing or two.
