Message from the Chief Editor
Since the early 1960s, when Dr. Robert Guthrie devised a screening test for phenylketonuria using a newborn's blood spot dried on a filter paper, more than 150 million infants have been screened for a number of genetic disorders. The American College of Medical Genetics journal, Genetics in Medicine, published a supplement entitled "Newborn screening" (May 2006 Vol. 8 No. 5) emphasizing the need for early diagnosis of inborn errors of metabolism and congenital deafness. This is a clear message to all preventive genetics experts to advocate the implementation of free newborn screening programs under the auspices of the WHO to newborns around the world.
LETTERS TO THE AMBASSADORS
My publicist at HarperCollins forwarded notice of a review of my book, THE AMBASSADORS, in your journal. While some frown on such practices, I always try and contact those who review my books – even those who review less than kindly! Thankfully, in this case, your magazine’s review was very positive and informative. I was also pleased to discover your magazine for the first time: until now I was unaware of it but I will certainly be revisiting the website. I continue my researches into matters ambassadorial.

I enjoyed with my colleagues, reading the special supplement in the Selected Studies section in the last issue of The Ambassadors Magazine (Vol.9, Issue 2). The review of the international genetics conference held in Kuwait and the publishing of 9 scientific papers that were presented there is truly great.

I learn from the Ambassadors a lot every day. The editorial in the www.Ambassdors.net is magnificent . I am very concerned about another book: Angels and Demons by Dan Brown. He made a mess again of both Christian and Islamic values deliberately. Dan made a Demon Pope, killing and mutilating his own father, who was a Pope, and 4 Cardinals. Furthermore, Dan attacked the Shiaa. The world lives in the aftermath of Fatwa, Salman Rushdi, and Khomaini. Rushdi enjoyed fame and shame. I am sure Dan Brown embarked on a more sinister path. He made a Shiite male whore, the assassin in the name of holy war, Hassasin and assasin Shiite derivatives, as well as Satan!! Shiaa fundamentalists are not tolerant, and may be a threat to Dan's life, promoting fame and shame, a wonderful promotion to his book.
I enjoyed reading the poem, "Reading a Book of Value" in the Reflections section of the last issue of The Ambassadors Magazine by Hala Elbanna. It had a beautiful picture, excellent work, wonderful presentation, intelligent dialogue, elegant layout, just rewards, and invaluable knowledge.
Congratulations!

I send to you photos of some of the newest ice sculptors from Harbun, a town in north China. The town does this every year and it is a great tourist attraction and is always beautiful. Most of them have lights inside and as you can see they are really huge. Every year, they get more fantastic and extravagant. This is the town where the Chinese had that chemical spill a couple of months ago
