THE TITANIC: THE CHALLENGER OF TOURISM & BOOK INDUSTRIES IN ATLANTIC CANADA

In summer 1998, both tourism and book industries were more than successful in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Prince Edward's Island, Thanks to the TITANIC!! THE CANADA COUNCIL FOR THE ARTISTS (LE COUNCEIL DES ARTES DU CANADA) raised the motto "Enjoy your summer reading in Atlantic Canada".
"NIMBUS PUBLISHING" has two best-seller books:

- "The Sinking of the Titanic & Great Sea Disasters" (ed. Logan Marshall). This is a reprint from the fascinating 1912 book, with classic account of marine disasters. It includes excellent photographs taken at the time of the launching as well as the aftermath of the sinking.
- "Titanic Halifax: A Guide to Sites" is a guided tour with the authors Alan Jeffers & Rob Gordon including maps, photos of the Titanic sites, never before published stories & anecdotes.

In summer 1998,
the ATLANTIC PUBLISHING MARKETING ASSOCIATION, an industry
supporting organization, distributed a booklet entitled,
"Books: For the beach, for the cottage, for the summer"
with the beautiful serigraph "Chairs on the beach" on
the cover by the Bass River, Nova Scotia artist Joy Laking. This
booklet indroduced more than 60 interesting books from eminent
Maritimes & Newfoundland's publishers:
"Breakwater Books", "Broken Jaw Press", "Creative Books", "Formac Publishing", "Gooselane Editions", "New World Publishing", "Nimbus Publishing", "Pottersfield Press", "University College of Cape Breton Press", and "Acadiensis".
